Organist is wanted!

Our regular organist of many years, Maggie Weaver, will be retiring this August. Huge thanks are due to her for her commitment to us.

We are now beginning the process of recruiting a new organist. An advert will also be placed on the Diocesan website, but if you know anyone who might be interested in the position, please do let either Canon Martin or one of the Churchwardens know.

Churchyard Working Parties at St Giles and St John’s

Our next churchyard working parties are now in the diary, and all are very welcome to come along and help.

The first will take place at St Giles’ Church, Coldwaltham on Thursday, 20 June, from 10.00am to 12.00 noon.

The second will be held at St John’s Church, Bury on Thursday, 11 July, from 10.00am to 12.00 noon.

This is a wonderful opportunity to help care for our churchyards, enjoy some time outdoors, and share in a bit of village fellowship. Don’t waste your money joining a gym — come and work out with us instead!

Refreshments will be provided.

Please bring any useful tools you may have, such as wheelbarrows, secateurs, gloves, trowels, scrapers, rakes, strimmers or hedge cutters.

16 June – Summer Concert at St Giles’, Coldwaltham

St Giles’ Church, Coldwaltham will host a Summer Concert on Tuesday, 16 June, at 7.30pm, bringing together local musicians, singers and friends for what promises to be a joyful evening of music in support of two village causes. The concert will feature the Farlingtonic Choir with musicians from Farlington School, directed by Jane Thomas. They will be joined by Bridget James on clarinet and soprano Emily Tuson.

There will also be a special appearance from G & S superstars Simon and Sarah Smith & Friends, together with singers and instrumentalists from Farlington School.

The evening will raise funds through a retiring collection in support of the repair work at St Giles’, including the Church lychgate, and to help keep the village Post Office open.

Refreshments will be provided.

Suggested donation: £15.

Rosemarie would be very grateful for offers of finger food to serve on the evening, as well as help with setting up on Tuesday afternoon or clearing up on Wednesday morning.

Please do come along and support this special village event!
